Ghost Street – A Zombie Thriller!

This award winning children’s drama was born out of consultations with the Youth Parliament of Newcastle.

This award winning children’s drama was born out of consultations with the Youth Parliament of Newcastle. They wanted a road safety film aimed at teenagers, but were looking for something memorable, with great impact. One of our suggestions was to make a film that illustrated teenage traffic victims living in some creepy and terrifying afterlife. Surprisingly, the commissioners bravely bought into this radical idea and we got the green light.

Budget was very limited, but because of the subject matter, and the chance to make something worthwhile, we were able to muster together a great cast and crew, many of whom worked regularly on the classic BBC TV series Byker Grove.

The star of the show was undoubtedly make up artist Michael Birtley, who was able to use his full range of cosmetic and prosthetic skills. DoP Simon August and Director Steven Boyle, working with limited time and resources, created scenes and with some smart work in post-production sound and vision, captivated their teenage audience, and the judges at the Royal Television Society awards.
